Election Results and Remarks

On behalf of the Trustees of the SLA I want to thank all the residents who put their names on our ballot. We appreciate your willingness to serve!

Congratulations to Bob Corson & Ed Ferruggia. Thank you Bob for your continued service to this community. Welcome back Ed!

We will be sending out notice of our next meeting as well as our monthly meeting schedule in a separate email. I have attached below my statement used to open our meeting last night for anyone who was not in attendance to see. With a full board now in place we look forward to getting back to the day to day business of the SLA. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!

Sturbridge Lakes Election Meeting
Good Evening Everyone and thank you for joining us this
evening for our annual election meeting!
Before the counting of the ballots begin, I want to address the
confusion surrounding this election process. Last year, new
regulations were adopted within the State of New Jersey
creating controversy regarding the election process that we
must adhere to. This included new noticing requirements to
owners and procedures for voting, verifying and counting
ballots. Our goal as your Sturbridge Lakes Board of Directors is
to have an uncontested election that follows all guidelines. We
wanted to make sure we were doing everything correctly.

-Unfortunately, the first ballot was sent out late.

-The second ballot was challenged by an owner.

-Because of this challenge and after obtaining legal counsel we
sent out a third ballot. The Radburn Law amendments that I
mentioned supersede our existing election rules.

-We want to mention that our Management company picked
up all the costs of the third mailing. Thank you Kristine &
Associa we appreciate this!

To all of the members of the SLA Board of Trustees and its
volunteers past and present thank you for your service. A huge
Thank you to Lester Barry who stepped down a few months ago
for his service as the Architectural Chair.

We want to thank Bob Corson for his guidance and experience
the last 2 months. I personally will always be grateful for this.

A thank you to Kristine, Deana and Denise at Associa for all
their guidance and support. And finally, to our Legal counsel
Nona Thank you!

A few quick notes for tonight’s meeting.
For safety and social distancing requirements we have adapted
with our counsel a safe and legal process for this evenings
ballot process and are each in our own homes watching this via
zoom as you all are. Our Legal counsel Nona Ostrove will be
opening and counting all ballots this evening. Nona’s camera
will be directed to her tabletop, her hands, and on the ballots.
All attendees will be muted. Turn your zoom to *SPEAKER
VIEW* so you can watch the ballots be opened. Deana
Frederick, myself, and our resident volunteer will be keeping
track of the votes called as Nona reads them off the ballots. If
anyone has any questions please feel free to place them in the
chat at the bottom of your screen. We will address what we can
or reply via email in a timely fashion.

Additionally, we regularly host an owner’s forum as a portion of
our Board of Trustees meeting and during past annual
meetings. However, due to the new regulations, challenged
ballots and the need for our association’s attorney to validate
ballots, this meeting may become lengthy and will solely be for
the purpose of the election. Following a brief announcement of
the new trustees, we will close the meeting.

While Deana Frederick and Debbie Palm will be tallying the
votes, we would like to ask for an additional volunteer that is
not on the ballot tonight. This volunteer will be emailed a tally
sheet and responsible to tally votes as announced. Deana will
quickly email you the tally form.

We want to thank all who have stepped up and placed their
name on the ballot! Our beloved community is a product of all
its parts! Please stay involved no matter the outcome tonight.
I thank you all in advance for your kind attention and I now
turn over the meeting Nona. Thank you!
