SLA PRESIDENT'S REPORT
by Ed Ferruggia
Dear Neighbors:
A development plan for the corner of Signal Hill Drive will
be heard by the township Planning Board on September 29 at 7:30 PM (Revised - now Nov. 10). The plan concerns a
bank with a strip of stores behind it. The plan can be seen on the next page.
It appears that Northbound traffic would enter the
development directly from Route 73. Southbound traffic would have to turn into Signal Hill
Drive and enter the development from that street.
It also appears that all traffic would exit the property onto
Signal Hill Drive. There would be no exit directly onto Route 73.
Because of the proximity of Signal Hill School and the
existing traffic congestion at this corner, the plan does appear to raise some traffic
issues which might affect Sturbridge lakes residents. Also, there would be the usual
questions about noise, lighting, hours of operation, buffers and setbacks, etc. The
Traffic Impact Study submitted by the developer indicates that up to 3 cars per minute
will exit the site onto Signal Hill Drive during peak hours.
We are still examining this plan and there may be other
concerns. Whether or not the SLA takes an official position, I would encourage any
interested resident to study the plan, seek further information from the township, and
show up at the Planning Board to express whatever your opinions may be. |
The site plan and traffic impact
study may also be viewed on the SLA website at www.thelaker.net. The Planning Board meeting will be on Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 PM (Revised - now Nov. 10) in
the Voorhees Town Hall on Route 561.

Lost and Found
Rob MacIver found a cordless telephone (that's right, not a wireless or mobile
phone, but the handset of an AT&T 2.4GHz cordless phone, black and silver in color),
lying by the side of the inbound roadway at the William Feather Drive entrance to
Sturbridge Lakes.
If you lost one contact us and we will put you in touch with Rob.
